It started with a date - April 17, 2017.
When it arrived, my intuition got the validation of a lifetime.
Here’s the story of how we moved to Europe based off of an intuitive hit…
Late December 2015, I’m living in Portland, Oregon, settling into the groove of being a new-ish mom in the Pacific Northwest. Trying to find ways to feel more settled in general. It’s that nagging feeling you have that you’re supposed to be doing something different with your life, but you don’t know what. So you wait, until clarity comes.
One day, I hear, “April 17, 2017” followed by “That’s when you move to Europe.”
On repeat. As in, repeated enough times that there was no way for me to ignore it, doubt it, or question it. There was no talk of travel or plans to move, but you can’t get something so specific and think it means nothing.
I say to my husband, “Strange, but I heard a date in my head and I think we’re supposed to move to Europe.” (I did not tell him the date)
His response? “Really?! A date popped to mind last week with the same thought.”
“Tell me your date!” I say.
“April, 17, 2017”
WHAT?! I tell him this was the same date I got too.
“Uhhhhh, what are we supposed to do with this information?” I ask.
“Obviously, figure out a way to move to Europe by that date.” He replies.
So we did.
Some called us brave, others foolish. We were neither. We just trust ourselves.
Intuitive hits don’t drop in randomly. There’s always a reason.
All of us live in a field of intuitive information always trying to make its way into our consciousness. Except we don’t see it because our focus and filter is on our patterns, habits, perspectives, assumptions, and beliefs.
On March 29, 2017, we arrive in the Netherlands.
Everything we owned in 9 suitcases. Our 13-year-old cat and 5-year-old kiddo in tow.
Serendipitous events began happening as soon as we got there. We found a place despite everyone saying it would be impossible. Yet, someone reached out to us!
My husband, Paul, is a connector and storyteller too. He had been sharing our experience in an online group we were in, which is where this person found us.
Her place hit 90% of what we wanted - furnished, in our price range, cat friendly, family neighbourhood around the corner from a huge playground, close to the city centre, and quite spacious.
“Normally, I’d do the credit check and job contract, but I just have a feeling about you two, an intuition that you should live here.” She says.
Rental contract signed. Keys in hand. Move in date? April 17, 2017.
Full circle moment!! Intuition confirmed. We had officially arrived.
Don’t let anybody ever tell you something is not possible.
It’s your life. Not theirs. Trust your read. Follow it.
This is how we are meant to navigate reality.
Here’s some of the adventure in pictures…
Our kiddo finding his lost passport a few weeks before we left. We were so stressed. It was at the bottom of a bag of his toys. He opened it up and exclaimed, “Look, little me!” because it had his picture in it.
My makeshift bed the night before we left. Hubs and kiddo stayed elsewhere and I slept on a pile of unpacked clothes after endlessly cleaning and packing until 2am.
Everything we owned in 9 suitcases.
… but still excited. Kiddo loves to travel to this day.
At the airport, so so tired.
Carried in my hand the whole flight over. Sits on my desk today.
